The number of electric vehicles on the roads continuously increases around the world. The competitors of the market, the biggest automotive companies, try to make a difference with software and hardware technologies. To attract more customers, the biggest players sometimes co-operate with some start-ups.
CY Vision (San Jose, CA) –founded by Orkun Oğuz, Hakan Ürey and Göksen Yaralıoğlu- has a potential to be such a game changer company for EV industry. What they develop is an Augmented Reality (AR) based Head-up Display (HUD) technology. With the assistance of AR HUD, some information to help the driver is transferred to the windshield with augmented reality.
The company is one of the few companies in the world that is able to develop this technology. Although there are some other companies to work on such technologies, CY Vision is the first to exhibit its final product. The company has also attended the consumer electronics fair CES 2022, held in Las Vegas, USA in January.
CY Vision’s approach is optimized for the computing and usability needs of the vehicular environment. They enable real-time computational holography with designs that fit today’s cost and reliability requirements. All in sRGB color and compatible with standard windshield shapes, films, and coatings. CY Vision AR HUDs deliver true 3D capability with binocular disparity, full-motion parallax, and focus blur cues from full sunlight to dark stormy conditions, and with continuous depth from in-cabin to infinity
The company is testing its technology with -big automotive companies, one of them is BMW. Additionally, they are in contact with some EV producers. The first EV company they started to contact is TOGG -a Turkish fully electricity car initiative-. The founders and directors of the company hope to be able to hit the market much sooner.
This year, the company plans to do a reinvestment tour. However, right now their focus is to launch the first product and become active on the market firstly with an EV and then with a major OEM by 2025-2026 at the latest. We might see them as a decacorn shortly (Işıtır, 2022).
