1000Scholars.com (1000Scholars, we, us, our) is a website, aiming to make scientific-technological R&D positions be found easily by potential applicants and to make potential applicants be found easily by academicians, institutes, and other organizations conducting research and development activities. This privacy policy will explain how our organization uses the personal data we collect from you when you use our website.
* Even if we use the terms such as “job, employee, etc.”, the owners of the position listings on this website may be academicians/researchers from universities. Thus the listings are/might be generally published for non-profit (education, voluntary, etc.) purposes.
We always want to present you new and better services. If you find our terms inappropriate, please send an email to us (data@1000scholars.com) and do not use our website till we fix the issue -if we can- and inform you.

What data do we collect?
1000Scholars tries to collect the minimum amount of data to present services to its users. To improve the quality and extent of its services we might collect the following data:
- Personal identification information (Name, email address, phone number, gender, etc.)
- Personal education data ( degrees, qualifications, certifications, areas of expertise, etc.)
- Previously prepared, uploaded digital files such as your photo, portfolio, CV, etc.
- The jobs you applied for and/or shortlisted, the employers you shortlisted using our website
- The news you have read/shared and your comments on the news.
- General Information about your social media accounts, if you share.
- Browser type and operating system, IP addresses of your devices, your geographic location
- The web page that led you to our site (referring URL), dates, times, duration, and frequency of your interactions with our site and services
- The links that you clicked on our website.
- Interactions with our email messages (including information about the devices used to access these messages.)
If you have an employer account, we might collect the following data additionally:
- Descriptive information (name, email address, website, address, phone number, etc.) about your university, institution, organization, company, etc)
- Information about the products/services your organization provides to its customers
How do we collect your data?
You directly provide 1000Scholars with most of the data we collect. We collect data and process data when you:
- Register our website online, fill in personal information about your personal education. (You generally do not have to fill in all the information in the forms on this website)
- Upload a CV a portfolio or similar file.
- Apply for a job or shortlist a job listing.
- Use or view our website via your browser’s cookies.
- Complete a voluntary research survey on 1000Scholars.com. You have the right to decline to participate in any survey.
1000Scholars may also receive data about you indirectly from the following sources:
- Publicly available data
- Privately-held marketing or data analytics resources, such as Google Analytics
How will we use your data?
1000Scholars collects your data so that we can:
- Manage your account
- Process your job applications.
- Allow the employers (to job listings of which you applied for) to see your personal information
- Email you about recent job listings and news we think you might like.
- Show advertorials to you.
- Offer new services that users can benefit from.
We do not have any partner companies/organizations, so we do not share your data with another company/organization. However, the employers you have applied for may store your personal information and process it. It is their responsibility to store and process your data in accordance with regulations. Thus, if you do not trust any 3rd party on 1000Scholars, please do not apply for the position opening and do not send any personal information.
We do not process the extra files (such as your portfolio) when you apply for a position using our website. Such files are just for allowing users to send more information easily to professors/organizations.
How do we store your data?
1000Scholars securely stores your data at cloud servers and physical devices. You can delete your account whenever you want, and if you want we can delete your personal information from cloud/physical servers/devices.
If 1000Scholars stops its services, we clear all the user data or anonymize them.
Marketing
1000Scholars would like to send you information about new products and services of ours that we think you might like.
If you have agreed to receive marketing, you may always opt-out at a later date. You have the right at any time to stop 1000Scholars from contacting you for marketing purposes. If you no longer wish to be contacted for marketing purposes, please send e-mail to data@1000scholars.com.
1000Scholars might show you advertisements on the web page.
1000Scholars does not sell your personal data to third parties (If you apply for a job, the employer of that job can reach the information you send them or you allowed the employers to see).

1000Scholars would like to make sure you are fully aware of all of your data protection rights. Every user is entitled to the following:
The right to access – You have the right to request 1000Scholars for copies of your personal data with no cost.
The right to rectification – You have the right to request that 1000Scholars correct any information you believe is inaccurate. You also have the right to request 1000Scholars to complete the information you believe is incomplete.

You may make one request per calendar year. In your request, please attest that you are a California resident and provide a current California address for your response. You may request this information in writing by contacting us as set forth in the User Agreement. Please allow up to thirty (30) days for a response.
