Senior Researcher Position in Cosmology, Gravity, and Astroparticle Physics

Position Description

The
Center for Theoretical Physics of the Universe, Cosmology, Gravity, and
Astroparticle Physics Group (CTPU-CGA) at Institute for Basic Science
(https://www.ibs.re.kr/ctpu-cga), South Korea, invites applications for a senior researcher position*, which can start before December 16th, 2027 as long as all requirements are
met at the point of starting date**.

The
position is associated with the Young Scientist Fellow (YSF) project “Testing
General Relativity using black hole observations” led by Dr. Che-Yu Chen***.
Applicants from any field related to the project are welcome, including
gravity, black hole physics, cosmology, astrophysics, and particle physics. The
official language at the center is English.

The
position is available for a fixed term ending on December 15, 2029, regardless
of the start date. The position may be extended for up to two additional years
(until December 15, 2031), depending on project evaluation. This extension is
also subject to availability of research funding and the candidate’s

*Though
the official title is “Senior” Researcher, it’s just an official one. This
recruitment is effectively for postdoctoral researchers including fresh ones.

** Up to
3 months deferral is negotiable, but doctoral degree must be obtained before December
16th, 2027, even in that case.

Expected Appointment Date

l The appointment date can be negotiable up March 16, 2028. However, if
you are unable to start by March 16, 2028, the appointment may be canceled.

l Applicants who are scheduled to obtain their doctoral degree after December16th,
2027 are not eligible to apply.

-A
preliminary successful candidate may be determined within the range of two
times the number of persons to be hired, and the effect of the preliminary
