About the position
The Department of Medicine at the University of California, San Diego ( http://med.ucsd.edu/ ) is committed to academic excellence within the faculty, staff, and student body. The Division of Nephrology-Hypertension is recruiting academic nephrologists for faculty positions. The Division continues to expand its clinical care for patients with kidney disease, including chronic kidney disease, end-stage kidney disease, receiving different modes of dialysis and apheresis care. Responsibilities for this position include the full spectrum of inpatient and outpatient nephrology care, including continuous dialysis therapies in critically ill patients, apheresis care, plasmapheresis, cellular pheresis procedures, continuous renal replacement therapy modalities, invasive procedures, end-stage renal disease care, consultation, and the delivery of new models of healthcare in the nephrology space. The successful candidates will also be responsible for providing high-quality training, teaching, and/or research. The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate’s background and experience. Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application) Candidates must have an MD or equivalent, DO, or MD/PhD in health-related areas. Candidates must have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California. Candidates must be board-certified or board-eligible in Nephrology. Preferred qualifications Candidates with at least one year of experience in designing and evaluating clinical trials and observational data to define the targets of blood pressure treatment in persons with kidney disease are preferred. Candidates with research and/or clinical interest in hypertension are preferred.
