About the position
The
Department of Pathology
at the University of California, San Diego, is committed to academic excellence within its faculty, staff, and student body and seeks an academic histocompatibility laboratory director to join the Division of Laboratory and Genomic Medicine and the UC San Diego Health Clinical Laboratories.
The successful candidate will serve as an Associate Director for the Immunogenetics and Transplantation (HLA) Laboratory at UC San Diego Health’s Center for Advanced Laboratory Medicine (CALM), and at the UCSD Medical Centers in La Jolla and Hillcrest. The UCSD Immunogenetics and Transplantation Laboratory (ITL) serves the kidney, heart, lung, liver, and hematopoietic stem cell transplant programs at UC San Diego Health and Rady Children’s Hospital and is the HLA laboratory for Lifesharing, the San Diego and Imperial counties’ regional Organ Procurement Organization. The ITL performs over 12,000 billable tests/year, supporting more than 500 solid organ and 100 allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplants yearly at UCSD and Rady Children’s Hospital while contributing to the clinical, education, and research missions at UCSD. The position involves a broad range of clinical and administrative responsibilities, as well as teaching medical students, residents, and fellows. This academically rich environment offers exceptional opportunities for translational and clinical research collaboration with leading investigators at UC San Diego, its affiliates, and several other nearby institutions.
The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate’s background and experience.
