About the position
The Department of Otolaryngology at the University of California, San Diego, is committed to academic excellence across its faculty, staff and student body and is seeking otolaryngologists with a focus in rhinology to join its faculty. The selected candidates will participate in the tripartite mission of the University of California, San Diego, encompassing clinical care, research, and education. Responsibilities will include providing excellent patient care, contributing to the department’s scholarly and research mission, and engaging in the teaching and mentorship of residents, fellows, and medical students. The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate’s background and experience. If appointed to a title covered by the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, the appointee should be aware that there are limitations on outside professional activities, and clinical moonlighting is expressly prohibited. Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application) Candidates must have an MD or equivalent degree. Candidates must be board eligible or board certified in otolaryngology. Candidates must also have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California. Additional qualifications (required at time of start) Candidates must have completed a rhinology/skull base surgery fellowship by the start date of the appointment. Preferred qualifications Candidates with clinical experience in endoscopic sinus and skull base surgery are preferred. Candidates with experience collaborating in multidisciplinary skull base or allergy care are preferred. Candidates with a record of research in chronic rhinosinusitis, allergy, or skull base pathology, as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications or other scholarly contributions, are preferred.
