About the position
The University of California, San Diego (UCSD), Department of Surgery and Division of Surgical Oncology are committed to academic excellence within the faculty, staff, and student body. We seek faculty to join a highly interdisciplinary, programmatic effort dedicated to advancing the understanding and treatment of surgical oncologic diseases. The selected candidates will be responsible for research related to surgical oncologic diseases, teaching, and university service. The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate’s background and experience. As a member of the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, the appointee should be aware that there are limitations on outside professional activities, and clinical moonlighting is expressly prohibited. Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application) Candidates must have a PhD in biological sciences or a related field, an MD (or equivalent), or an MD/PhD. Preferred qualifications Candidates who currently have an extramurally funded research program in basic science relevant to surgical oncology are preferred. Candidates with experience in preclinical cancer modeling, particularly in the development, maintenance, and analysis of organotypic slice culture models, as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications and extramural grant funding, are preferred. Candidates with knowledge of pancreatic biology and physiology are also preferred.
