About the position
Position Description
The Homer L. Dodge Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of
Oklahoma (OU) invites applications for a full-time tenure/tenure-track faculty position in
experimental High-Energy Physics (HEP). Qualified applicants in all areas of
experimental HEP are encouraged to apply. The appointment is expected to begin in
August 2027, at the rank of assistant or associate professor. Salary will be competitive
and commensurate with qualifications and experience. The teaching load in the
department is one course per semester.
The OU HEP group contributes to the ATLAS experiment, and has extensive experience in
silicon strip and pixel detector technology, and is participating in the high-luminosity
upgrade of the ATLAS detector and muon collider R&D. OU is a Carnegie-R1
comprehensive public research university known for excellence in teaching, research,
and community engagement. Norman is a culturally rich and vibrant town located just
outside Oklahoma City.
Required Qualifications: Applicants must have a Ph.D. (or equivalent) in physics, or a
related area, and a record of research accomplishments in experimental HEP.
Preferred Qualifications: Applicants should also possess the potential to teach
effectively at both undergraduate and graduate levels and a willingness to contribute to
a friendly and supportive work environment.
