Position Description

Boston University invites applications for a faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor of contemporary Latin American and Luso-Brazilian literature and film in the Department of Romance Studies. Candidates will be expected to teach one undergraduate course per year in the Cinema and Media Studies program and contribute to its curriculum and elective offerings. We are especially interested in candidates whose research and pedagogy are transnational in scope and who are able to teach courses in Portuguese, Spanish, and English.

Requirements include a PhD in an appropriate discipline in hand by September 1, 2027; a demonstrated interest in Cinema and Media Studies; excellence in research and teaching; native or near-native proficiency in Portuguese, Spanish, and English. Candidates should also be prepared to contribute actively to departmental service and university initiatives focused on enhancing student engagement. The starting salary for this position will be $94,000 to $104,000.
