About the position
Position Description The Department of Biology in the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences at Johns Hopkins University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor. We are seeking candidates who develop or apply computational methods to address fundamental questions in genetics and genomics. We welcome work in any organism or system, including human populations, cell-based models, and non-model species. While this is a dry lab position, core facilities and collaborations may enable the generation of experimental data. Founded in 1876 with the university, the Department of Biology is home to 27 research laboratories studying a wide range of biological processes from the molecular to the population level. Johns Hopkins also hosts leading research in computational biology across the Whiting School of Engineering, the Bloomberg School of Public Health, and the School of Medicine, with natural connections to the newly established Data Science and AI Institute. Responsibilities include developing an externally funded research program, teaching and mentoring, and contributing to service. This search is part of a larger initiative, with information about the additional searches to be posted soon on the department website. Please submit a CV, a statement of current and future research, and a statement of teaching interests and philosophy through the Interfolio website. Please also arrange for three confidential letters of recommendation to be submitted. For full consideration, please apply by November 8, 2026, although later applications will be accepted.
