About the position
Position Description The Departments of German Studies and of Slavic and Eurasian Studies at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, invite applications for a tenure-track position at the assistant professor level beginning July 1, 2027, with an initial appointment through June 30, 2031, renewable upon successful review. Exceptional research agenda and commitment to teaching excellence required in both German Studies and a Slavic or Eurasian field of expertise, including fluency in both of the research languages. We are seeking a scholar in 20th- and 21st-century literature, culture, film, and/or media, and expect that the position will strengthen ties between the two programs. PhD in hand by June 30, 2027, from a department of German Studies, of Slavic Studies, of Comparative Literature, or similar field. Teaching at both graduate and undergraduate levels expected.
