About the position

Do you have expertise in occupational psychology as a practitioner and/or academic? Are you looking for a role in an academic environment, teaching the next generation of occupational psychologists and conducting research or practice in the field? You will draw on your proven track record as an occupational psychologist in a practitioner and/or academic context. You will be part of a team of psychologists and occupational and organisational psychologists who support delivery of our Occupational Psychology provision, which includes undergraduate pathway options, master's provision and a professional doctorate in occupational psychology. You will teach on topics such as contemporary issues in occupational psychology, occupational psychology theory, and elements of occupational psychology practice, and will hold module and/or programme leadership responsibilities. We are seeking either an Academic Occupational Psychologist or a Practitioner Occupational Psychologist. We are particularly interested in hearing from you if you have experience and knowledge in organisational culture, structure, design and change. The School of Psychology sits within the newly named Faculty of Health and Wellbeing and plays a pivotal role in the development of Northumbria University. Other Schools within this Faculty include Healthcare and Nursing Sciences, Communities & Education, and Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation, all creating a dynamic and purposeful environment for education, research and enterprise across health and society. We also offer undergraduate programmes in Psychology and Psychology with Criminology and deliver both on campus and via distance learning. To be successful in the role you will have demonstrable experience and knowledge in your specified discipline, and you must have experience in and/or a desire to help shape education within the school. A recognised teaching qualification or equivalent teaching experience (such as Fellowship of AdvanceHE) will be beneficial to your application. Applicants for the Assistant Professor (Practice) role should hold a first degree in a relevant subject and professional qualification or substantial professional experience in the discipline. You must also be able to demonstrate contemporary expert specialist knowledge and subject expertise within the relevant discipline/practice areas ensuring that the curriculum reflects the latest developments within practice. Experience of designing, delivering, assessing, and evaluating high-quality teaching and learning practice as well as evidence of contributions to the development of contemporary practice are essential.
