Description
(1) Applicants should have or are expected to have a doctoral degree or Ph.D.
(2) The applicant must have achievements in research on the isolation, structural elucidation and chemical synthesis of natural products together with elucidation of functional mechanisms of bioactive natural products involved in the regulation of plant life cycles and defensive responses upon environmental stresses. In particular, the applicant should have outstanding research achievements regarding the mechanisms that regulate the expression and suppression of the activity of bioactive compounds such as plant hormones. Furthermore, the applicant must possess fundamental knowledge and experience not only in experimental methods of natural product chemistry but also those based on molecular biology and biochemistry (see Appendix 4).
(3) Applicants should be proactive in contributing to the development of Natural Product Chemistry education and research (see Appendix 3 and 4).
(4) Applicants should be able to provide research guidance regarding the above subjects for undergraduate and graduate students in Japanese and English.
(5) It is desirable that a strong track record in obtaining external funding.
(6) Applicants should arrive at this post on the scheduled date.
