About the position
Job Summary
The Department of Philosophy at the University of Colorado Boulder
invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant
Professor level, to begin August 2027. We seek a philosopher with
expertise in philosophy of language whose research bears on
questions concerning artificial intelligence (AI) and who is also
prepared to teach logic. We construe both philosophy of language
and its connections to AI broadly. Candidates need not work
exclusively, or even primarily, on AI, but their research should
connect with questions about AI, whether theoretical, applied, or
interdisciplinary, and need not be limited to large language
models. We welcome candidates whose research connects philosophy of
language and AI with other areas of philosophy. The position offers
opportunities for interdisciplinary engagement on AI across a wide
range of disciplines in the university.
We are looking for an original thinker and a productive scholar
with a strong research profile who will take an active part in the
intellectual life of the department.
The position comes with an option for a semester free of teaching
pre-tenure.
