About the position

The Department of Cell Biology and Anatomy at the University of South Carolina Floyd School of Medicine invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor. Our department has a dynamic, collaborative group of faculty with research expertise in cardiovascular development and disease. Information on individual faculty research interests is available at our website. Ideal candidates will have scientific interests that synergize with current department research activities while broadening our existing strengths and bringing new scientific approaches to the department. South Carolina is an NIH IDeA state which could provide applicants the opportunity to participate in multi-investigator/institutional grants at USC such as NIH Centers of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBREs), the Center for Clinical and Translational Research (an NIH CTR-D), and the SC IDeA Network of Biomedical Research Excellence (SC INBRE) programs. In addition to our commitment to cutting edge research, the department contributes significantly to the educational mission of the Floyd School of Medicine by teaching in both the medical and graduate Biomedical Sciences programs. Applicants are expected to have teaching interests, and potentially experience, that would allow integration into departmental educational responsibilities which include courses in human anatomy, histology, cell biology, biochemistry, and cardiovascular sciences. Applicants must hold a Ph.D., M.D., or M.D./Ph.D. with postdoctoral experience and productivity that demonstrates clear potential to establish an independent, externally funded research program.

Applicants should submit their application including a cover letter indicating how the applicant’s research plan and teaching interests fit within and complement the department, curriculum vitae, a two-page description of future research plans, up to two-page teaching statement which includes mentoring philosophy, and complete contact information for at least three references through the University of South Carolina online jobs portal.
