About the position
The Department of Medicine at the University of California, San Diego is committed to academic excellence within the faculty, staff, and student body and is currently recruiting for a tenured faculty position at the Associate or Full level in the Division of Gastroenterology & Hepatology . The Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology is ranked number 1 in research and teaching among global universities, and ranked number 28 in clinical care by the U.S. News & World Report. Faculty are encouraged to get involved in various sub-sections within the division and engage in active learning and will participate in divisional and departmental activities and demonstrate engagement. The selected candidate will lead a cutting-edge esophageal research program focused on advancing the understanding, diagnosis, and management of esophageal diseases. The selected candidate will develop and maintain an innovative, extramurally funded research program and contribute to the Division's research portfolio while providing strategic leadership in esophageal research. The successful candidate will teach and mentor fellows, residents, medical students, postdoctoral scholars, and junior faculty, as appropriate, and contribute to educational programs in gastroenterology and esophageal diseases. The selected candidate will also participate in divisional, departmental, and University service activities and contribute to maintaining a collegial and collaborative academic environment. The appointment will be based on the candidate’s background and experience. Series will include 50% Ladder Rank / 50% In-Residence (with secured extramural funding) or 100% Ladder Rank. Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application) Candidates must have an MD or equivalent, MD/PhD, or PhD in Biomedical or Health Sciences Field relevant to Gastroenterology and Hepatology. Candidates with an MD or equivalent must be board certified or board eligible in Gastroenterology and must have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California. Candidates must also have a minimum of eight years of research productivity and current extramural grant funding.
