About the position

Description of the workplace The Regenerative Immunology research team at the Department of Laboratory Medicine within the Faculty of Medicine currently conducts research in innate tumor resistance mechanisms of newts and its relationship to their regenerative capacity. At present, the research team is working on the to understand the limits of newts tumor resistance and the shared and divergent mechanisms between regenerative and tumor tissue. The group is international and comprises students, postdocs, and technical staff. We are now looking for a driven and experienced researcher in cancer and regenerative biology to support the project. Read more on the University’s website about being a Lund University employee, work at Lund University. https://www.lunduniversity.lu.se/about-university/work-us Work duties and areas of responsibility The research assignment consists of you independently conducting an analysis of regenerative events and genotoxic stress responses, under the leadership of the project manager. The analysis includes newt caretaking, bioinformatics, and common molecular biology techniques. The work duties also comprise of giving oral presentations, generating figures, drafting manuscripts, and mentoring junior scientists. Qualifications The requirements for the position are: A doctoral degree in cancer biology, regenerative biology, molecular biology, or similar Experience researching, handling, and caring for salamanders Experience of analyzing morphological events surrounding regeneration and working with emerging model organisms. The ability to conduct independent research at an advanced level, having previously led a project independently Strong ability to write and speak in English Good analytical ability, drive and a good ability to collaborate Additional qualifications for the position are: Experience of generating knockout and/or transgenic salamander lines Previous experience of research in similar projects Research expertise is the foremost criterion for employment. Further information The employment is for a fixed term of 12 months at 100 percent of full time, to start as soon as possible or according to agreement.
