Background of the recruitment and description of the project Cancer Research Institute, Kanazawa University invites applications for a full-time faculty position (Division of Functional Genomics, (Chief: Dr. Takeshi Suzuki), Cancer Molecular Target Exploration Program). We are seeking candidates at an assistant professor level. Work content and job description Our major research interest is the breakdown of gene expression control that drives the malignant progression of cancer, including invasion, metastasis, the epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), and the acquisition of therapeutic resistance. We focus on epigenetic regulation by histone-modifying enzymes and long non-coding RNAs, as well as on post-transcriptional (epitranscriptomic) regulation represented by RNA methylation and alternative polyadenylation, in order to elucidate how these regulatory mechanisms govern malignant progression. We are seeking a scientist who will take a leading role in these research projects and further advance the research of our division by bringing in their own perspectives and new techniques. Description (1) Applicants are expected to actively contribute to and help advance the research projects described above. (2) Applicants should be cooperative and highly motivated to conduct research with the faculty and staff members of the Institute, and to be involved in the supervision of graduate students. (3) Applicants must have a doctoral degree or be expected to obtain one by the time the appointment begins. (4) Applicants should have a solid background in molecular biology, cell biology and biochemistry. (5) Research experience in the regulation of gene expression in cancer— for example in chromatin biology, epigenetics, or RNA biology — is preferred. ※Under Article 8 of the Equal Employment Opportunity Law (Special Provisions of Measures Pertaining to Women Workers), in order to actively improve our considerably low percentage of women researchers, applicants are limited to female researchers.
