Course Lecturer MECH 546 - Finite Element Methods in Solid Mechanics (3 credits) Instructor must cover all material as written in the Course Outline on the McGill Course Catalogue page, as follows: - Discrete systems; variational formulation and approximation for continuous systems; direct and variational methods of element formulation in 1- 2- and 3 dimensions; formulation of isoparametric finite elements; plate and shell elements; finite element method for static analysis, vibration analysis and structural dynamics; introduction to nonlinear problems. Teaching Qualification Requirements: - Minimum of Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering. - Minimum of three years’ experience teaching or in industry. - Demonstrated knowledge of spoken and written English. - Understanding cross-cultural practices. - Strong problem-solving skills and flexible approach to teaching.
