About the position
Doctoral Student in Wearable Biofeedback Systems for Cardiovascular Health
KTH Royal Institute of Technology, School of Engineering Sciences in Chemistry, Biotechnology and Health
Third-cycle subject: Technology and Health
We are looking for an inquisitive person to pursue a PhD in Wearable Biofeedback Systems for Cardiovascular Health in the Department of Biomedical Engineering and Health Systems. The ideal candidate has a background in biomedical, electrical, mechanical engineering or computer/data science.
You will be an integral part of the growing Intelligent Heart Technology Lab, whose mission is to advance cardiovascular health technologies. We develop and research implantable and wearable systems, including artificial hearts, blood pressure sensors, and soft robots for the heart, which adapt to people's physiological and mental needs. In this project, you will closely collaborate with clinicians (Karolinska Institute), enabling interdisciplinary discourse for maximal innovative breakthroughs.
The doctoral student will lead research into the physical mechanisms underlying the beneficial physiological effects of cardiac locomotor coupling. The project will combine advanced signal processing, physics-informed data science, embedded systems, and modelling of cardiovascular physiology. The doctoral student will also be responsible to validate the technologies developed in human-subject studies.
Supervision: Associate Professor Seraina Dual, KTH and Associate Professor Eric Rullman Karolinska Institute
