About the position

Molde University College (MUC) invites applications for a 2-year position as Associate Professor in Health Care Operations Management. We seek a highly qualified and internationally oriented academic with expertise in operations management, and supply chain management, particularly within healthcare, humanitarian, and service settings.

The position is affiliated with the Faculty of Logistics, where Health Care Operations Management is a strategic priority area supported by active research projects, international collaborations, and master's and PhD education. The successful candidate will contribute to teaching, research, and academic development within the faculty.

Teaching responsibilities will primarily be associated with the Master's programme in AI and Operations Management for Health Care, with a particular focus on operations management and healthcare service systems. The position also includes supervision of master's and PhD students, participation in research projects and external funding applications, contribution to programme development and curriculum revision, and involvement in assurance of learning, quality assurance, and accreditation-related activities.

At present, 45 % of your working hours are allocated to research and associated activities.

The primary place of work for this position is at our Campus in Molde. However, Molde University College is a two-campus institution, and you may therefore be required to teach at our campus in Kristiansund.

Qualifications

Applicants must hold a PhD in Operations Management, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Management or a related field. Applicant must demonstrate expertise in several of the following areas: Health Care Operations Management, Operations Management, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Service Operations Management, Humanitarian Logistics and Supply Chains, and Lean Management in service organizations. Significant experience in higher education teaching and supervision is required, together with a strong and active research profile documented through publications in recognized international journals. Applicants must also demonstrate pedagogical competence and a commitment to research-based teaching and learning. The candidate must document formal pedagogical education. If you lack these pedagogical requirements, you must acquire them within two years from starting the position.

Particular emphasis will be placed on candidates with an established international publication record in operations management, logistics, and supply chain management, as well as empirical/applied research experience in healthcare systems, humanitarian operations, public services, or other complex service environments. Experience with programme development and academic leadership is highly desirable. Experience from roles such as programme director, department chair or similar academic leadership positions, involvement in European or international research projects, knowledge of assurance of learning processes and international accreditation systems such as AACSB, and editorial experience for scientific journals will be considered advantageous.

Applicants will be assessed on the basis of their scientific qualifications, teaching and supervision experience, academic leadership, and personal suitability for the position. Active research and recent scientific publications will be considered significant strengths.

In addition, the applicant’s personal qualities will be emphasized, including the ability to cooperate with others and contribute the academic environment.

The position demands that the successful candidate demonstrate good verbal and written skills in English. Good verbal and written skills in Norwegian, or another Scandinavian language, will be considered as advantageous.

We offer

Salary per year is from NOK 750 000 (in code 1011 Førsteamanuensis). There is a two percent deduction for superannuation contribution to the Norwegian State Pension Fund. The appointment will be in accordance with current Norwegian regulations concerning state employees.
