About the position
Background of the recruitment and description of the project The research and development project “Backcasting Digital Systems by Super Dimensional State Engineering” is part of the Cabinet Office’s Moonshot Goal 10 program “Realization of a dynamic society in harmony with the global environment and free from resource constraints, through diverse applications of fusion energy, by 2050” (MS10DS. https://ms10ds.nifs.ac.jp/). The successful candidate will engage in this project toward the realization of fusion energy. Work content and job description The appointee will be responsible for one or more of the following research topics related to virtual laboratories for magnetic confinement fusion energy systems, especially tokamak system, depending on their expertise and the progress of the project: (1) Development of numerical simulation modules that constitute the integrated modeling suite for magnetic confinement systems, and code maintenance including inter-module coupling scheme. (2) Development of other related plasma simulation codes, analyses of physical mechanisms, and modeling of magnetic confinement systems. Specific research duties will be determined in consultation with the successful candidate. Supplementary explanation of compensation After being appointed to this position, there is a possibility to be hired as a program-specific assistant professor with a fixed term for the duration of the project, if the specified requirements are satisfied.
