About the position
The Department of Architecture at UC Berkeley invites applications for a pool of qualified lecturers and lecturers in lieu of GSIs to teach non-studio courses in the following areas: Architectural History and Theory, Building Science, Structures, and Construction, should an opening arise. Screening of applicants is ongoing and will continue as needed. The number of positions varies from semester to semester (fall, spring, and summer), depending upon the needs of the Architecture department. General Duties: In addition to teaching responsibilities, general duties include holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials (e.g., syllabus), and using Cal’s electronic resources for course management.
Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application) Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree, or equivalent international degree at time of application. Additional qualifications (required at time of start) For the Instructor role, candidates must possess a professional Architecture Degree (an M.Arch from an Accredited Architecture program, or equivalent international degree) at time of hire. For those who are not US citizens or permanent residents, a legal permit that allows work in the United States (such as a US visa that allows employment) is required by the start date of the position. The department is unable to provide a visa/work permit. Preferred qualifications Three or more years teaching college level courses
