About the position

Contract Type: Full Time (37.5 hours) – Fixed Term (02/11/2028) To plan and deliver effective programmes which prepare international students for level 1 undergraduate study in UCD and to support students in achieving their progression requirements. ABOUT THE ROLE Teaching and Learning - Plan and execute appropriate, effective and inclusive learning programmes through schemes of work - Plan teaching sessions which accommodate individualised learning using a variety of resources, including digital learning - Ensure a broad range of learning materials are available on the VLE for students to access and engage with, including self-directed tasks and activities that facilitate feedback and interaction - Apply the principles of learning and teaching to provide learning activities to meet curriculum requirements and the needs of all students, considering the QQI Level 5 requirements for the programme. - Select the relevant learning approaches and skill development to ensure students’ progress. - Contribute to the provision of a stimulating learning environment whilst adhering to the - Centres’ Health and Safety procedures Assessment - Apply the theories and principles of assessment including initial, diagnostic, formative and summative assessment - Use a variety of methods to check learning in lessons (formative assessment) - Ensure that interactive assessment activities are available to students through the VLE - Provide regular and timely feedback to students to enable them to improve and achieve their qualifications - Write summative assessments according to the QQI Programme Assessment Briefs, addressing to their correspondent learning outcomes (including repeat assessments). - Prepare students for summative assessment through revision sessions and practice assessments - Engage in moderation of assessment materials and student work, including double marking, thorough and timely preparation of all relevant documentation for the external examiners and - QQI external authenticators, and participation in module assessment boards. - Ensure that all summative assessments follow their correspondent assessment briefs, as per the QQI validated programme. Progress Support - Maintain up-to-date and accurate records of student attendance and progress - Respond promptly and appropriately to lapses in student attendance, punctuality, behaviour and application to their studies by individual conversations with students, referrals to personal tutors or referrals to professional services - Support students with individual target setting and revise these throughout the year during progress checks - Support student with action planning to improve academic performance and achieve aspirational targets - Be available to offer support to students as required (e.g. workshops, booster and revision classes and one-to-one feedback sessions) - Support students to progress to the University by being proactive in liaising with University - Schools and link tutors - Contribute to student progress reports in a clear and constructive manner - Strive for and attain high levels of student achievement Learning and Welfare Support - Refer students for learning support where appropriate - Take responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of students in your care - Refer to support services where appropriate. - Contribute to effective communication with stakeholders (parents, sponsors, University etc) Personal Learning and Development - Be aware of and comply with all Centre quality assurance processes such as observation of teaching and learning, audits of teaching and learning material (including VLE content, exam papers, assessment briefs) programme and module evaluation and subject team performance reviews. ABOUT YOU - Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Physics or related area (essential) - A relevant teaching qualification or post-graduate degree (desirable) - Experience of teaching in the Higher or Further Education sectors or of Leaving Certificate (Hons)/A-level (essential) - Experience of working with international students (desirable) Please apply via the ‘Apply’ button above. up to €42,000 per annum
