About the position
Background of the recruitment and description of the project As the only public research institution in Japan that specializes in the field of information and communications technology, NICT promotes ICT R&D, from the foundational to the implementation, while collaborating with universities, industry, local governments, and domestic and overseas research institutions and aiming to generate innovation by giving back to society with our R&D’s results. We are committed to promoting a research and development system of diversity, which enables us to make the best use of the individuality of our diverse workforce, in order to ambitiously tackle future ICT research and development from a global perspective, and to boldly take on various challenges. Work content and job description The position not only requires high expertise in the relevant research area but must be responsible for actively conducting strategic R&D with a Mid-to-Long-Term perspective. For those who do not hold a doctoral degree or are enrolled in a doctoral program at the time of appointment, NICT will, in principle, cover the costs necessary for obtaining a doctoral degree after joining. The position may also be involved in R&D management, overall planning of strategic research plans and in the operations management of the institute. While having sufficient expertise in the relevant field of research will be the key factor in the selection process, the candidates' willingness to actively take part in management affairs such as promotion and management of projects as well as personnel training will also be taken into account. Our organization is hiring researchers across a wide range of fields listed under the “Focused Areas of Research and Development.” In particular, we are seeking researchers in the following areas: Universal Communications, Quantum ICT, Space Communication Systems, Wireless Communication Systems, and Network Architecture. This will be the final selection stage and is scheduled in late November. You can choose between Japanese and English as the language. We will ask all interviewees to submit the following documents on My Page. In principle, interviews will be conducted at the head office (Koganei City, Tokyo), but they can also be conducted online. The travel expenses for the interviews will not be reimbursed.
