## PhD position at the University of Athens & Evangelismos General Hospital, Greece (ENDOTRAIN DC6) PhD Research Fellow in Digital tools and biomarkers for the diagnosis and monitoring of patients with adrenal tumors (DC6) at the University of Athens & Evangelismos General Hospital, Greece (ENDOTRAIN) ## PhD position There is a vacancy for a PhD Research Fellow in Digital tools and biomarkers for the diagnosis and monitoring of patients with adrenal tumors (DC6) at the University of Athens & Evangelismos General Hospital, Greece. The position is funded by the European Commission through the MSCA Doctoral Network Endotrain (Grant No: 101227148) and coordinated by the University of Bergen, Norway. Supervisors: Prof. Dimitra Vassiliadi Location: University of Athens in collaboration with Evangelismos General Hospital, Greece Duration: 3 years (with possibility of extension) Start date: December 2026 at latest The students will be enrolled in the structured PhD programme of the Medical School, NKUA. ## About the project/work tasks: This position is part of: 19 PhD Fellowships available in Digital Endocrinology in the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Doctoral Network (ENDOTRAIN). Join Europe’s first doctoral network in digital endocrinology – integrating AI, sensor technology, omics, and clinical medicine to transform diagnosis and treatment of adrenal diseases. Digital medicine is entering a new era where human “digital twins” and sensor-based monitoring allow personalised diagnosis and treatment. ENDOTRAIN will train a new generation of interdisciplinary experts who merge clinical endocrinology, AI, data science, engineering, ethics and law into an integrated field of digital endocrinology. The programme focuses on adrenal disorders as a case study for advancing digital health in Europe. This position is part of: This project is part of Work Package 1: Hormone Dynamics of the ENDOTRAIN network and focuses on the study of patients with adrenal tumors. The aim is to investigate how cortisol levels affect tissue glucose, blood pressure, and sleep, and how these correlate with patient-reported data. The project includes: - Case–control study with collection of wearable data and hormone profiles in healthy individuals and patients - Integration of physiological data from wearable devices (e.g., activity, heart rate, temperature) with 24h dynamic hormone profiling, proteomics, and patient-reported data - Contribution to the development of digital diagnostic tools - Collaboration with other doctoral candidates in WP1 - Participation in training courses and workshops of the ENDOTRAIN network Research Fields: Hormones, Digital Health, Medical Sensors, Physiology Secondments: May be planned for anywhere in the consortium depending on DC plans, but for example: - University of Ulm (Germany): Algorithms for wearable data analysis - University of Manchester (UK): Mathematical modeling of hormone rhythms ## Qualifications and personal qualities: We are seeking highly motivated candidates with: - Medical Degree (MD) - Interest in research on adrenal tumors, endocrinology, and intensive care medicine - Basic data analysis skills - Excellent command of English - Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team For further details, please visit our webpages: Digital tools and biomarkers for the diagnosis and monitoring of patients with adrenal tumors (DC6) | UiB and the programme webpage: Endotrain Doctoral Training Network | UiB ## Salary and Benefits - Budget for travel and secondments - Excellent international networking & career development opportunities - All MSCA PhD students are 100% full-time employment contracts and salary determined by EU MSCA regulations. - MSCA mobility and family allowance (where applicable) ## Application procedure All applications must be submitted via the Jobbnorge portal Your application must include the mandatory attachments from the ENDOTRAIN webpages - including "1.
