Postdoc in Computational Neuroscience and Brain-like AI

Job description
The objective of the research is to develop brain plausible neural network models of brain’s cognitive and perceptual capabilities. In particular, you are expected to build and study cortex-inspired feed-forward and recurrent networks within the context of semi-supervised and unsupervised pattern recognition problems as well as decision making tasks.
Your duties will include reviewing relevant literature, designing and simulating neural network models, analyzing and interpreting results, and benchmarking brain-inspired architectures against conventional machine learning methods. You are also expected to actively participate in academic discussions with supervisors at KTH and to write scientific papers.
Qualifications
Requirements
A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree. This eligibility requirement must be met no later than the time the employment decision is made.
As an applicant you should have good programming skills not only in Python but also C++ and capability to develop scalable code to be deployed on supercomputers.
You should also have fundamental knowledge in computational neuroscience and machine learning, neural netaorks in particular.
It is necessary that you are aware and well informed about diversity and equal opportunity issues, with specific focus on gender equality.
As an applicant you should have experience publishing academic work, as well as strong English language skills and good oral and written communication abilities, since this is required in the daily work.
Preferred qualifications
A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree, obtained within the last three years prior to the application deadline.
We prefer you have prior experience in developing and simulating both spiking and non-spiking neural networks with local learning rules.
It is commendable if you have good collaborative skills and can demonstrate examples of your independence in research. It is also appreciated if you also have some pedagogical experience.
Knowledge of and skills in MPI and GPU programming, along with experience running large-scale computational simulations, are desirable qualifications.
Great emphasis will be placed on personal skills.
