About the position
Position Description
The Theoretical Particle Physics group at Carleton University anticipates filling one or two
postdoctoral fellow positions to start in the Fall of 2027. The positions are for 2+1 years,
with the third-year conditional on performance and funding availability.
One of the positions will be considered for the McDonald Institute Theory Fellowships
supported by the MITF or MI-CITA postdoc programs. The candidate is expected to do
research in the field of theoretical astroparticle physics (broadly defined). Top-ranked
applications will be sent to the MITF and MI-CITA Evaluation committee, who will allocate
fellowships. First round offers will be made in mid-to-late January 2027.
The Theoretical Particle Physics group consists of six faculty members (Stephen Godfrey,
Thomas Gregoire, Seyda Ipek, Heather Logan, Daniel Stolarski, Yue Zhang), three
postdoctoral fellows, and numerous graduate students. The theory group works on all
aspects of beyond-the-Standard Model physics. The physics department of Carleton
University also has a strong experimental particle physics group whose members are
involved in the ATLAS collaboration at the LHC, and dark matter and neutrino experiments
including DEAP, DarkSide-20k, ARGO, Hyper-K.
Applications should include a CV, a statement of research interests and two reference
letters. Applications and recommendations should be submitted through
AcademicJobsOnline.org. For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to submit
materials no later than January 4, 2027.
