Postdoc Position in Theoretical Particle Physics

University of Freiburg Institute of Physics Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany

About the position

Position Description

The Particle Theory Group at the University of Freiburg (Germany) invites applications for a postdoctoral position in Theoretical Particle Physics. The appointment is for two years with a possible extension for a third year and with a start date of October 2027 (or earlier).

Particle theory in Freiburg currently comprises the workings groups of S.Dittmaier (mainly electroweak interaction) and H.Rzehak (mainly physics beyond the SM), complemented by the astro-particle theory group of S.Biondini. The theory group is tied to the local experimental (astro-)particle groups (ATLAS: K.Jakobs, B.Moser, M.Schumacher; LHCb: M.Gersabeck; astroparticle physics: M.Schumann) in the DFG-funded Research Training Group RTG 3186.

The position will be associated to the particle theory group of S.Dittmaier. Candidates should have a PhD in theoretical particle physics at the time of the appointment and exhibit experience in the fields of electroweak physics, Higgs physics, the calculation of radiative corrections, and/or physics beyond the Standard Model.

Applications should be submitted preferably before 10 December 2026. Late applications will be considered until the position is filled.

Applicants should provide a curriculum vitae, a list of publications and a brief description of their research interests, as well as arrange for two letters of recommendation.
