About the position
Position Description
The Particle Theory Group of the High Energy Physics Division at Argonne National Laboratory invites applications for one or more postdoctoral positions. The search is broad and open to all areas of theoretical particle physics, with an emphasis on particle phenomenology.
Members of the Particle Theory Group work on physics within and beyond the Standard Model, phenomenology at current and future colliders, perturbative QCD and jet physics, hadron structure, detector correlators, and effective field theory. The group also pursues research involving artificial intelligence and machine learning, including applications to global analyses, as well as quantum information, and real-time classical and quantum simulation. For more information, please consult

Candidates in all areas of phenomenology are encouraged to apply. Applicants with backgrounds in more formal aspects of quantum field theory and an interest in phenomenological applications are also encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will be expected to pursue an active, independent research program in particle theory that strengthens and complements current research efforts in the group and division.
Applications should be submitted via AcademicJobsOnline.
Complete applications received by January 8, 2027 will receive full consideration. The anticipated start date is Fall 2027, although a start as early as Spring 2027 may be possible by mutual agreement. Late applications will be reviewed should the position remain open.
A complete application must include a cover letter, a curriculum vitae including a list of publications, and a description of the candidate’s research plan. Three letters of reference will also be required.
