About the position

Position Description The Klarman Fellowship, a postdoctoral research program within the GaMBiT Initiative (www.broadinstitute.org/gambit) at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard is seeking exceptional postdoctoral associates to join this bold endeavor. The mission of the Broad Institute is to understand the roots of disease and close the gap between new biological insights and impact for patients. The GaMBiT Initiative aims to bridge the translation gap between genetic discoveries and therapeutic interventions by systematizing and scaling essential experiments that will articulate disease mechanisms from genetic discoveries, identify critical biomarkers which measure those mechanisms, build the computational framework to link human genetics data with these experiments, and ultimately deliver therapeutic approaches which precisely remediate the discovered mechanisms. The position: We welcome outstanding applicants with research interests in any area of research germane to the development and application of novel technologies to advance the GaMBiT mission to convert the discovery of hundreds to thousands of genetic variants connected to any disease into precise causal mechanisms, biomarkers required to measure those mechanisms, and genuinely actionable therapeutic leads. Both computational and experimental postdoctoral fellows are required for this mission, mirroring the diverse network of labs involved in GaMBiT supported research which span diverse areas of expertise such as statistical and computational genetics, the articulation of disease mechanism using cellular and organismal biology, immunology, scalable biomarker discovery using metabolomics and proteomics, protein structure and chemistry. Roles will be focused on: Building large-scale analyses across siloed biobanks, integrating data across all studies to create genome maps of disease, developing tools for experimentalists to access comprehensive genome information per disease, and building AI agents for integrating and interpreting genetic data with biological knowledge from literature. Scalable editing of any human cell type; profiling of proteins, regulatory elements, metabolites, and molecular interactions within single cells; human genetics–derived cellular models and organoids derived from patient tissues to which disease-specific perturbations can be applied). Postdoctoral associates will be based at the Broad Institute with a mentor or co-mentors from Broad-, MIT-, or Harvard-affiliated faculty. Completed application review will begin on a rolling basis after September 30, 2026. This will be a one-year appointment beginning on or after January 1, 2027, or an earlier/later mutually agreed upon date, with the possibility of renewal for a second year based upon satisfactory performance. Qualifications and Requirements: Within one year of Ph.D. (expected or obtained) in Computational Biology, Computer Science, Physics, Math, Statistics, Biochemistry, Immunology, Chemical or Molecular Biology, or a strong knowledge of a variety of biological areas of research. Strong analytical and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively describe scientific material to both specialized and lay audiences. Ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary environment and commitment to participating in GaMBiT Initiative activities For full consideration, candidates must submit the following documents: CV and a cover letter, A research statement of up to three pages, including references (this can be focused on research thus far) Names and email addresses of three or more individuals who will provide letters of recommendation Questions: please contact (gambit-info@broadinstitute.org) The Broad Institute will offer visa sponsorship for this opportunity. Application Materials Required: Submit the following items online at this website to complete your application: Cover letter Curriculum Vitae Research statement Three reference letters (to be submitted online by the reference writers on this site) Further Info: www.broadinstitute.org/gambit GaMBiT-Info@broadinstitute.org 415 Main St Cambridge, MA 02142
