Postdoctoral Fellow or Staff Scientist Position in Immunometabolism, Diabetes/Obesity, and Extracellular Vesicle Biology

About the position

Our laboratory investigates how obesity- and nutrient excess–associated metabolic stress alters cell-to-cell and inter-organ communication and immune responses, thereby contributing to the development and progression of metabolic diseases, including type 2 diabetes, steatotic liver disease, and cardiovascular disease.
Our research integrates RNA regulation, extracellular vesicle (EV)-mediated communication, and immunometabolism. We are seeking a new laboratory member to advance projects focused on the molecular mechanisms by which EVs and their RNA cargo regulate inflammatory and immune responses.
Using molecular, cellular, and animal-model approaches, we study how EVs released from metabolic organs, particularly the liver, influence immune cells and distant tissues and contribute to obesity-associated disease.
Candidates with experience in metabolism, immunology, RNA biology, EVs, molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, or related fields are encouraged to apply. Direct experience in EV or immunometabolism research is not required. We welcome applicants who are motivated to learn new approaches, develop mechanistic questions, and work collaboratively.
Depending on experience and career stage, the appointment may be considered at the level of Postdoctoral Fellow or Staff Scientist. The successful candidate will have opportunities to advance ongoing projects and develop increasingly independent research directions.

Work content and job description
Our laboratory studies the mechanisms underlying obesity- and nutrient excess–associated metabolic diseases, with particular emphasis on the interactions between metabolism and immunity and on cell-to-cell and inter-organ communication.
Depending on the candidate's experience and scientific interests, responsibilities may include:
Investigating mechanisms by which extracellular vesicles (EVs) and their RNA cargo regulate inflammatory and immune responses;
Performing molecular and cellular functional studies using cultured cells, immune cells, and disease models;
Designing and conducting experiments using molecular biology, biochemistry, and cell biology approaches;
Investigating disease mechanisms using models of metabolic and inflammatory disorders;
Analyzing and interpreting experimental data and developing new mechanistic hypotheses;
Collaborating with laboratory members and national and international research collaborators;
Communicating research findings through scientific presentations and peer-reviewed publications.
The successful candidate will have opportunities not only to advance ongoing projects but also, depending on their experience and research interests, to develop new and increasingly independent research directions.
