Postdoctoral Position in Monitoring Load and Recovery in Athletes 100%, Zurich, fixed-term Ready to elevate athlete performance with higher-quality metrics for guiding training and recovery? The Running Performance Group at the Exercise Physiology Lab in the Department of Health Sciences and Technology, ETH Zurich, is expanding its activities in sports performance research. We are currently offering a fixed-term postdoctoral position in the field of athlete monitoring. Project background Current technologies enable the collection of vast amounts of data from athletes. Despite many technical advances, the field is not yet able to deliver on its marketing claims and athletes are swamped by data that does not add value to training planning. The goal of this postdoctoral position is to develop and evaluate new ideas for monitoring the load and recovery of athletes, with the aim to improve performance, including investigating different types of sports equipment that may modulate training load and recovery. Job description You will design studies involving experimental investigations in the laboratory and telemonitored training and testing sessions. The goal of these studies is to develop protocols and metrics aimed at better assessing the relationship between training load and recovery to optimize training processes. Specific duties include: - Design, execute and publish studies in the field of athlete monitoring - Be the lead person in the team testing and developing new approaches for monitoring and assessing athletes, including laboratory protocols - Establish new collaborations within and outside the ETH Domain, leveraging new technologies in sports science research - Seek opportunities for multi-centric studies and partnerships with sports clubs or teams - Present your work at national and international conferences - Support teaching activities and co-supervise BSc, MSc and PhD students Profile - PhD in Sports Sciences or Engineering in the context of Sports Sciences - Experience with longitudinal studies, tracking load and recovery in athletes - Excellent coding experience / able to handle vast amounts of data - Solid background in biomechanics, including hands-on testing experience, with a good foundation of exercise physiology - Proactive and inquisitive personality, eager to exploring new approaches, self-motivated and team-oriented - Outstanding academic qualifications and communication skills - Experience in coaching at different levels is welcome - Proficiency in English (spoken and written, C1 level) and German (spoken and written, C1 level), or strong commitment to learn quickly We offer We offer a fully funded full-time postdoctoral position on the ETH Zurich postdoctoral salary scale for one year (renewable to a maximum of 6 years) a dynamic and interdisciplinary research environment with access to state-of-the-art laboratory facilities and technologies.
