Department of Medicinal Chemistry at Uppsala University is a strong and international research environment. The position will be based at the Translational PET Imaging research group at Uppsala University and Science for Life Laboratory. The research group focuses on development of molecular imaging methodologies for improved diagnosis, management and treatment of disease. The Translational PET Imaging research group is a part of the Department of Medicinal Chemistry. Project description/Work Duties Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) is associated to the progressive destruction of the beta cells in the pancreas. Emerging treatments include beta cell replacement by transplantation, but novel imaging technologies are needed to monitor the efficacy of such therapies. This postdoc project will develop novel DPP6 targeting PET imaging technologies for monitoring of beta cell mass, with a focus on translation towards early clinical development. The postdoc will receive training in PET radiopharmaceutical development, in vivo molecular imaging technology and regulatory science. The exact description of the tasks depends on the individual skills and research interests of the applicant. The main duties of the applicant are to participate in and lead research projects. The work duties can also include supervision of students, teaching and other departmental duties. Requirements We welcome applications from candidates that have (or soon will have) a PhD degree in pharmacy, biomedicine or related fields, within a maximum of three (3) years before the final application date. During certain circumstances, an earlier PhD can be acceptable. Certain circumstances include leave due to illness, parental leave, work in trade unions, etc. The applicant must have excellent skills in communication and teamwork, and be fluent in English and Swedish. The applicant is expected to work independently and be able to take own initiatives. The assessment of applications is based primarily on the applicant's ability to conduct independent research based on scientific skill. Additional qualifications Previous experience in PET tracer development and/or research in the diabetes field is a merit. Documented courses in radiation protection and/or laboratory animal science are merits. Instructions for Application The application can be written in English or Swedish.
