Job Description:

Budget Title: Postdoctoral Associate (SL-1)

Salary: $80,000 (full-time, temporary)

As part of the SUNY initiative Promoting Recruitment, Opportunity,
Diversity, Inclusion and Growth Plus (PRODiG+) Fellowship, the
Department of Romance Languages and Literatures at Binghamton
University invites applications from scholars of Afro-Latinx
literature, culture, or linguistics whose research examines the
intersections of race, gender, class, and language. We welcome
applicants whose expertise centers on the Caribbean and Latin
American regions and the diverse cultural and linguistic traditions
of Afro-descendant communities. While the hire will teach courses
in the Spanish Division, candidates whose research engages
Afro-Lusophone communities or Luso-Hispanic Creoles are especially
encouraged to apply. We seek a scholar whose work is not only
innovative but also readily integrated into the Spanish-language
classroom for both second-language learners and heritage speakers,
many of whom are of Caribbean descent. The successful candidate
will contribute to expanding the curricular offerings of the
Department through courses that engage critical scholarship on the
histories, cultures, literatures, languages, and pedagogies of
Afro-descent communities across Latin America, the Caribbean, and
the United States.
