About the position

Background of the recruitment and description of the project Hiroshima University (HU) herewith makes an open international job offer and seeks to appoint Professor with tenure in the research area of Medical Informatics and Artificial Intelligence in Medicine (particularly Medical Imaging). This position is based on the ‘Policy for recruiting/cultivating excellent faculty members’. The university introduced this policy to create a secure environment in which junior-positioned faculty members can concentrate on their research/education. Hiroshima University provides an environment in which faculty members can conduct research activities independently through the assignment of mentor teachers and other measures. Work content and job description Field of specialization Medical Informatics and Artificial Intelligence in Medicine (particularly Medical Imaging) Teaching responsibilities The following courses are scheduled to be taught.: (1)Undergraduate level (general education courses): Data Science (Common Graduate-Level Course) (in Japanese and English), etc. (2)Undergraduate level (discipline-specific courses): Information Science Seminar I (in Japanese and English), Image Processing (in Japanese and English), etc. (3)Graduate level (master’s program): Advanced Image Engineering (in Japanese and English), Special Research in Information Science A and B (in Japanese and English), etc. (4)Graduate level (doctoral program): Special Research in Information Science (in Japanese and English), etc. Note: The subjects you are responsible for may be changed or added. Responsibilities (1)Duties related to research in “Field of specialization”. (2)Duties related to teaching the scheduled courses and supervising graduate and undergraduate students under "Teaching responsibilities ". (3)Duties related to university administration and management at the levels of the university, graduate school, faculty, and centers (including participation in various meetings and service on committees). (4)Duties related to student admissions (exam supervision, question creation, grading, interviewers, etc.). (5)Other duties as directed by the head of the educational and research organization. (Scope of changes) Tasks determined by the university. Work experience (2)Be able to supervise doctoral students in preparation of doctoral dissertations (3)Have experience in supervising graduate students in a master’s and/or doctoral program(s) in preparation of thesis/dissertation (4)Be able to teach classes and supervise students in English (5)Be able to handle entrance examination duties (such as creating questions and grading) in Japanese. (6)Applicants must have research experience in collaboration with researchers in the medical and healthcare fields and be able to promote research and education in collaboration with the Hiroshima University School of Medicine and related institutions. Supplementary explanation of compensation [Evaluation] We conduct individual performance evaluations for all Hiroshima University faculty members after their employment, numerically rate their performance, and salary and benefits are commensurate with performance indicators.
