Professor of Practice, Operations, Technology, and Information Management

The Cornell SC Johnson College of Business invites applicants for a Professor of Practice position with 50 – 100% appointment in our Operations, Technology, and Information Management (OTIM) area, with a school affiliation in the Johnson Graduate School of Management. The intended start date of this position is July 1, 2027. The position will be based in Ithaca, NY.

Responsibilities of the position include teaching MBA courses in Operations Strategy, Experience in Strategic Operations, and other related graduate courses in the college.

The ideal candidate will possess a PhD in business or a related field and have relevant prior work experience in a senior leadership role in industry. Candidates holding a master’s degree in business or a closely related field, along with relevant teaching experience, will also be considered.

It is expected that our faculty teach across multiple schools within the College of Business.

The Cornell SC Johnson College of Business (established on July 1, 2016) combines three Schools: the Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management (Johnson), the Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management (Dyson), and the Nolan School of Hotel Administration (Nolan).

The Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management offers MBA, Accelerated MBA, Executive MBA, and Ph.D. programs. Courses and programs are taught at Cornell’s main Ithaca campus, the Cornell Tech campus in New York City, and other locations across the globe.

In compliance with New York’s Pay Transparency Act, the minimum annual base salary range for this position is $120,000 - $280,000. This pay range represents base pay only (for 9 months, paid over 12 months) and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, or other items. Cornell University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.

The hiring rate of pay for the successful candidate will be determined considering the following criteria:

  • Prior relevant work or industry experience.
  • Education level to the extent education is relevant to the position.
  • Academic Discipline (faculty pay ranges reflects 9-month annual salary)
  • Unique applicable skills.
