About the position

Osaka School of International Public Policy at The University of Osaka (OSIPP) is seeking faculty members in the field of applied economics. Professor (Tenured), Associate Professor (Tenured), Associate Professor (Tenure-Track), or Associate Professor (Lecturer) (Tenure-Track) Work content and job description ・Conduct research in the field of applied economics. ・Teach lectures on microeconomics, macroeconomics, or econometrics (including related subjects; details will be explained during the interview), as well as lectures on subjects related to applicant’s major at the standard graduate school level, provide thesis guidance for graduate students, and conduct lectures and seminars for undergraduate students. ・The Professor (Tenured) will be responsible for about 10 credits per year (90 minutes x 15 lectures x 5 courses) ・The Associate Professor (Tenured) will be responsible for about 8 credits per year (90 minutes x 15 lectures x 4 courses) ・The Associate Professor (Lecturer/s) (Tenure-track) will be responsible for 4 credits per year (90 minutes x 15 lectures x 2 courses) until the first review for tenure, and will be responsible for 6 credits per year (90 minutes x 15 lectures x 3 courses) after the initial review for the tenure. ・The Associate Professor (Tenure-track) will be responsible for 6 credits per year (90 minutes x 15 lectures x 3 courses) until the first review for tenure, and will be responsible for 8 credits (90 minutes x 15 lectures x 4 courses) per year after the initial review for the tenure. ・The successful applicant is also responsible for engaging in administrative duties. ・If a candidate does not obtain tenure but is judged to be suitable for reappointment, the Associate Professor (Lecture) will be responsible for 6 credits (90 minutes x 15 lectures x 3 courses) per year, and the Associate Professor will be responsible for 8 credits (90 minutes x 15 lectures x 4 courses) per year. Professor level Annual Salary : 5 million yen ~ Associate Professor Annual Salary : 4 million yen ~ Others - Associate Professor (tenure-track) Annual Salary : 4 million yen ~ Others - Lecturer level (tenure-track) Annual Salary : 4 million yen ~ Description [Requirements] Applicants for a tenured position: (1) Applicants must have obtained a doctoral degree (Doctorate or Ph.D.). (2) The applicant must be able to teach classes in English. Although not necessary, applicants who can teach classes in Japanese are appreciated. Please note that applicants are expected to communicate in Japanese regarding university affairs. (3) Applicants must have published/accepted at least three peer-reviewed research papers in reputable English-language journals. In principle, one of these papers must be a singleauthored. Applicants for a tenure-track position: (1) The applicant must have obtained a doctoral degree (Doctorate or Ph.D.) within the last 10 years or be expected to obtain a doctoral degree (in this case, the applicant must pass the degree examination by the day before the date of appointment). (2) The applicant must be able to teach classes in English. Although not necessary, applicants who can teach classes in Japanese are appreciated. Please note that applicants are expected to communicate regarding university affairs. (3) The applicant must have research papers that demonstrate their research abilities.
