The Department of Molecular Biosciences, The Wenner-Gren Institute (MBW) experimentally addresses fundamental problems in molecular cell biology, integrative biology, and infection and immunobiology. State-of-the art and advanced methodologies are applied in a professional research environment characterized by its well-established international profile. The institute has 30 research groups with a research staff of 180, of which 65 are PhD students. More information about us, please visit: the Department of Molecular Biosciences, The Wenner-Gren Institute Main responsibilities As a Research Assistant in computational biology and machine learning, your primary tasks will include: Developing, benchmarking, and executing deep learning pipelines for structure prediction, conformational sampling, and de novo peptide/protein design. Running structural modeling tasks targeting complex membrane proteins, GPCRs, and cyclic peptides. Managing computational workflows and job submissions on High-Performance Computing (HPC) cluster environments. Analyzing biophysical data, maintaining clean code repositories (Git), and presenting findings within the group. Qualification requirements Essential requirements: Master’s degree (MSc) in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Biophysics, or a related quantitative field. Strong programming proficiency in Python and familiarity with deep learning frameworks (PyTorch or JAX). Solid understanding of structural biology principles and experience with modern structure prediction tools (e.g., AlphaFold, ESMFold, PyMOL). Ability to work independently, troubleshoot technical issues, and adapt quickly to new workflows. Excellent written and spoken English communication skills. Desirable qualifications: Experience running computational jobs on HPC systems (Linux / SLURM). Background in molecular dynamics, GPCR structural biology, or cyclic peptide modeling. Good software engineering practices (version control, containerization with Docker/Singularity). About the employment This is a fixed-term position six-month project-based position.
