The Department of Medical Sciences is a large clinical department with around 250 employees and over 900 people affiliated through the Academic Hospital. The department has a broad research profile with strong research groups in a range of areas. The research takes place in close connection to the clinical activities at the Academic Hospital and includes both basic studies on the causes of diseases as well as the development and evaluation of improved diagnostics and new treatment methods. Within the research group 'Experimental Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience' (ECAN), led by Associate Professor Malin Gingnell, emotions and cognitive processes are studied from a neurobiological perspective. The work uses experimental psychology in the lab, online, and in combination with various brain imaging techniques (PET, MRI, EEG) to explore behavior and neurobiology in both healthy individuals and in different clinical populations. Duties As part of the international research project RE-MEND (Building Resilience against Mental illness during Endocrine-sensitive life stages) we study the interaction between the hormonal challenges during puberty and basic psychological functions such as approach behavior, fear extinction, emotion regulation and risk taking. This part of the project focuses on data collection of psychophysiological and fMRI-data. There are also tasks related to data collection in other projects within the research group. Requirements You must Hold a Master’s (second-cycle) degree in Psychology, Medicine, Biomedicine or any similar field, or have completed at least 240 credits in higher education, with at least 60 credits at Master’s level including an independent project worth at least 15 credits, or have acquired substantially equivalent knowledge in some other way. Good knowledge of English is very important, and the position requires a good ability to communicate in Swedish. Additional qualifications For the position, a background in experimental neuroscience, with experience in independently conducting psychological experiments, is an advantage. Experience in using psychophysiological measurement methods and fMRI, as well as experience working with the patient group, is also a plus. Great emphasis is also placed on other practical research experience, especially if it involves working with participants in a clinical setting. Personal skills such as independence, flexibility, and perseverance, along with the ability to collaborate, are valuable. About the employment The employment is a temporary position for 6 months. Scope of employment 40 %. Starting date as agreed.
