Background of the recruitment and description of the project The Hydrology Laboratory, Civil Engineering Program, College of Engineering, Shibaura Institute of Technology is pleased to announce an opening for a Project Research Assistant Professor for a project funded by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) (April 2022 - March 2029 with the possibility of extension until March 2032 upon the results of an interim review). Depending on the availability of research funding thereafter, the employment contract may be extended for up to a total of five years. Work content and job description The successful candidate will contribute to the research on development of a global database on river levees and flood risk change projection (such as hydrological modeling and impact assessment). As part of our support for early-career researchers, Project Research Faculty members may, with the approval of the PI, devote up to 20% of their effort to independent research activities. Within this 20% effort allocation, they may apply for and participate in competitive research funding programs, such as Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research (KAKENHI). Selection Selection Process: Applications will be reviewed upon receipt, and interviews will be conducted for selected applicants. Travel expense for the interview is covered by applicants.
