About us The UCL Institute for Global Health (IGH) is at the heart of UCL’s Grand Challenge of Global Health. The Institute’s vision is for a world where international policy on global health is informed by world class research. IGH aims to support the development of robust solutions to aspects of the world’s major global health challenges through scholarly outputs, education, public engagement, translational research and ultimately by influencing public policy and professional practice. We are seeking a collaborative and self-motivated Research Assistant for an exciting opportunity to contribute to the racism, intersectionality and discrimination workstream of the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Inequalities Challenge: Maternity Disparities Consortium. About the role The postholder will be linked primarily to the racism, intersectionality and discrimination work. This cross-cutting workstream will support each theme in three distinct ways: - systematic application of an intersectionality action matrix during study design and conduct to reach intended populations, alongside systematic application of anti-racism principles in intervention refinement/ implementation; - work collaboratively with themes to develop tailored educational resources to ensure anti-discrimination approaches are taken in intervention delivery for specific intervention components; - design an accountability framework that is comprehensive and adaptable between settings to reflect theme priorities for addressing racism, discrimination and intersectionality in intervention design and delivery. About you The successful candidate must hold a BSc/BA or equivalent. They must also hold a MSc in anthropology, epidemiology, global health, medical science, public health, social science or statistics, or other relevant field. The ideal candidate will have: - Proven ability and commitment to carry out high quality original research, leading to publication in peer-reviewed journals. - Quantitative and statistical software skills using standard statistical software (e.g. Stata, R) - Qualitative skills using standard qualitative analysis software (e.g. Nvivo) £39,807 to £42,891 including London Allowance
