About the position

Research Fellow Position

The School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, is a leading engineering school with a strong commitment to research excellence.

The Quantum Magnonics and Spintronics (QMagSpin) Lab is seeking a Research Fellow to investigate collective quantum excitations in two-dimensional materials and heterostructures, through nanoscale device engineering and advanced optical spectroscopy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and fabricate nanoscale heterostructure devices to engineer functional interfacial couplings.
  • Develop novel experimental setups and measurement protocols for ultrafast optical, Raman, and terahertz spectroscopy.
  • Investigate the excitation, detection, propagation, and control of magnons, phonons, and other collective excitations.
  • Perform low-temperature, magnetic-field-dependent, and time-resolved measurements.
  • Analyze experimental data, publish research findings, and collaborate with students and research partners.

Job Requirements:

  • PhD in Physics, Applied Physics, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Strong background in experimental condensed matter physics, quantum materials, optics, or related fields.
  • Hands-on experience in experimental instrumentation, measurement development, and data analysis.
  • Proficiency in scientific programming using Python, MATLAB, or equivalent tools.
  • Experience in ultrafast spectroscopy, nanofabrication, two-dimensional materials, or low-temperature measurements is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaborative skills.
