Researcher in development of brain-inspired artificial intelligence

About the position

Researcher in Development of Brain-Inspired Artificial Intelligence

As an applicant, you are expected to build cortex-inspired neural networks for problems in semi-supervised and unsupervised learning. Your primary responsibilities will involve implementation and optimization on various hardware platforms, including neuromorphic hardware.

The goal of this work is to develop brain-like network architectures and carry out high-performance, large-scale implementations.

Your responsibilities will include studying relevant literature, designing and simulating large-scale neural network models on various hardware platforms, including neuromorphic hardware. You will also be expected to actively participate in academic discussions with advisors at KTH and to write scientific articles.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • A doctoral degree at advanced level (higher education) in Computer Science or a related field. This eligibility requirement must be met no later than the time the employment decision is made.
  • As an applicant, you should have strong programming skills and the ability to develop scalable code for running on supercomputers. You should also have a deep understanding of artificial intelligence and machine learning, particularly regarding neural networks.
  • It is essential that you are knowledgeable and well-informed about issues related to diversity and equal opportunity, with a particular focus on gender equality.
  • Applicants must have a good command of English and strong verbal and written communication skills, since this is required in the daily work.

Preferred qualifications

  • We would prefer that you have prior experience developing and simulating large-scale brain-like neural networks with local learning rules.
  • It is advantageous if you have strong collaborative skills and can also demonstrate independence in research and development.
  • Knowledge of and proficiency in GPU programming, as well as experience running large-scale computational simulations, are desirable qualifications.
  • Furthermore, we would prefer that you have teaching ability and prior experience of developing and leading activities and staff.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal skills.
