About the position
Researcher In Privacy-Preserving Ai
The AICell Lab in the department of Applied Physics at KTH and Science for Life Laboratory is a new research group funded by the Data-driven Life Science Fellows program. The group, led by Wei Ouyang, focuses on building AI systems for data-driven cell and molecular biology. To expand the team, we are now opening a position for a researcher in privacy-preserving AI for sensitive biomedical data.
The researcher will play a key role in developing our platform where AI agents analyse data where it is, so that sensitive data never has to leave the data owner's environment. This is a unique opportunity to help shape how sensitive data can be shared and used safely in research and healthcare across Europe, and to be part of an enthusiastic and dynamic team.
The responsibilities are:
- Lead research and development of the group's platform for AI agents and privacy-preserving analysis of sensitive data
- Represent KTH in EU projects and identify opportunities to use the platform in them
- Initiate applications for external funding and build collaborations with healthcare, industry and data owners
- Supervise students and contribute to the supervision of doctoral students in the group
- Publish research findings in high-quality scientific journals and conferences
Requirements:
- A doctoral degree in a relevant field such as Physics, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or other life sciences or an equivalent foreign degree.
- Extensive experience in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and computational biology
- Collaborative abilities
- Independence
We are looking for someone who is reliable, collaborative, and communicative. You need to be able to work independently, actively contribute to problem solving, and to help move projects forward. It is commendable if you are well organized and thorough. As an employee at KTH, awareness of diversity and equal opportunity issues, with specific focus on gender equality, is required.
Preferred qualifications:
- International postdoctoral experience
- Training in machine learning, information security or data protection
- Experience of advanced use of AI agents and workflows built on large language models, e.g. multi-agent systems
- Experience of EU-funded projects and of working with European research infrastructures
- Experience in a management or leadership role, e.g. head of a unit or platform in academia, a research infrastructure or other R&D work, with responsibility for operations, budget and external collaborations
- A record of winning external research or innovation funding in open competition, e.g. a personal research grant or fellowship from a national or international funder
- Knowledge of regulations for sensitive data, e.g. GDPR and the European Health Data Space (EHDS)
- Scientific publications in the field
- Good knowledge of Swedish as is required for the day-to day work.
Great emphasis will be placed on personal skills.
