About the position
Position Description
The University of Freiburg (Germany) offers a research position for 3+3 years in Theoretical Particle Physics. The preferred starting date is October 2027 (or earlier). The position will be paid at the level of an "Akademische Raetin/Rat auf Zeit", A13Z in the German civil servant system, and may offer the possibility to acquire the qualification step of "habilitation" at the university.
Particle theory in Freiburg currently comprises the workings groups of S.Dittmaier (mainly electroweak interaction) and H.Rzehak (mainly physics beyond the SM), complemented by the astro-particle theory group of S.Biondini. The theory group is tied to the local experimental (astro-)particle groups (ATLAS: K.Jakobs, B.Moser, M.Schumacher; LHCb: M.Gersabeck; astroparticle physics: M.Schumann) in the DFG-funded Research Training Group RTG 3186.
The position will be associated to the particle theory group of S.Dittmaier. Applicants should exhibit significant experience in the fields of electroweak physics, Higgs physics, the calculation of radiative corrections, and/or physics beyond the Standard Model.
Applicants are encouraged to collaborate with local PhD students and postdocs as well as to take advantage of the ample expertise in particle physics at the department. Applicants must hold a PhD degree and previous postdoc experience.
Applications should be submitted preferably before 10 December 2026. Late applications will be considered until the position is filled.
Applicants should provide a curriculum vitae, a list of publications and a short research statement, as well as arrange for three letters of recommendation.
