About the position
The laboratories of Dr. Bertrand Routy, MD, PhD and Dr. Arielle Elkrief, MD, Co-Directors of the CHUM Microbiome Centre, are seeking a highly motivated and scientific writer as well as grant manager to join their dynamic research teams. This individual will play a central role in supporting the labs’ rapidly growing portfolio of fundamental microbiome research, translational oncology and microbiome-centered clinical trials by managing grant submissions, scientific writing, and reporting.
About the lab:
The lab focuses on unraveling the link between the immune response and novel microbiome-based therapies for people with lung cancer, kidney cancer, and melanoma treated with immunotherapy. This includes investigating the role of live biotherapeutic product, prebiotics, and diet in prospective clinical patient trials, with a focus on integrating translational correlative approaches using biospecimens from patients enrolled on these trials and focus on murine pre-clinical experiments.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and assist in the primary writing of grant proposals for both PIs, ensuring clarity, scientific rigor, and alignment with funding priorities.
- Coordinate all aspects of grant submissions, including timelines, formatting, portal uploads, and compliance with agency guidelines.
- Prepare budgets and justification documents in collaboration with PIs and institutional administration.
- Generate and format figures, tables, and graphics for grant applications.
- Collect and organize letters of support from collaborators and institutional signgning authorities.
- Manage reference libraries and citation formatting.
- Track and coordinate progress reports and other grant reporting requirements.
- Provide support in medical writing (manuscripts, reviews, presentations) during off-grant cycles.
- Assist with administrative tasks related to the labs’ academic and clinical research activities.
Qualifications:
- PhD in biomedical sciences or a related discipline; or equivalent experience in grant management/academic writing. • Proven experience in grant writing and submission, preferably in health sciences or translational oncology.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to handle multiple deadlines under pressure. • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English (French is an asset).
- Proficiency with reference management software (EndNote, Zotero, or equivalent)
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment. Competitive benefits:
