## About the position We invite applications for a Senior Process Engineer (Senior Engineer) position within the field of Semiconductor physics/technology, available at The Department of Physics / Centre for Materials Science and Nanotechnology. The position is for a period of 3 years. Starting date as soon as possible. Place of work is The Department of Physics / Centre for Materials Science and Nanotechnology at Blindern, Oslo. ## Work tasks The responsibilities include - Process development of atomic layer deposition (ALD) and pulsed laser deposition (PLD) for external customers - Maintenance of ALD and PLD equipment, including lasers, gas and vacuum systems - Coding routines for preventative maintenance of the laboratory tools - HSE documentation and risk assessments - User training, both on processes/equipment, and on lab safety - Assisting users/researchers in process/equipment related troubleshooting - To take part in the procurement of new equipment - testing, specification and qualification - Administrative tasks connected to MiNaLab-operation The position will be an integral part in the ongoing research and education through support of the infrastructure users together with a team of three engineers and scientific staff. There will be daily contact with both students and researchers and external customers; therefore, the personal suitability to cooperate and communicate, especially with students, is essential. The accumulated knowledge obtained in this position will be (where appropriate) shared with colleagues, cleanroom users and our international network, e.g., as part of the Nordic Nanolab Expert Network. This network also provides a very good opportunity to interact and learn from other highly experienced cleanroom engineers working within the Nordic countries. ## What skills are important in this role? Qualification requirements: In this role you must have - A master’s degree in physics, chemistry, materials science, nanotechnology, electrical or chemical engineering, or similar. Relevant work experience can compensate for formal qualifications. - Documented experience with installation of vacuum deposition or characterisation systems and experience in process development using atomic layer deposition (ALD) and pulsed laser deposition (PLD) - A minimum of 1 year experience beyond the master’s degree from an internationally leading cleanroom infrastructure - Experience in characterisation of materials using advanced instrumentation - Experience with reviewing HSE protocols and performing formal risk assessments - Documented programming skills (e.g. Labview, Python or Arduino) - Excellent communication skills, both oral and written in English and Norwegian (or another Scandinavian language) Desired qualifications: - A PhD heavily utilizing ALD or PLD will be regarded as beneficial. Candidates whose PhD research involved substantial cleanroom work will be considered to have sufficient experience. - Experience in onboarding and training new users. - Experience in running outreach activities within a laboratory environment.
