About the position
Description of the workplace
The Structural Proteomics unit is a part of the SciLifeLab Integrated structural biology platform
https://www.scilifelab.se/units/structural-proteomics/
and BioMS Lund.
The unit provides access to cutting-edge equipment and expertise, for the analysis of protein interactions and conformational dynamics of proteins using mass spectrometry. The structural proteomics unit does contract research for scientist and companies in Sweden and EU where our main analysis techniques are Crosslinking and Hydrogen/Deuterium Exchange - Mass Spectrometry. We are a national Swedish infrastructure that provides research services that can provide insight into the function of macromolecules to generate increased understanding of diseases. The unit is funded by the SciLifeLab, the Swedish Research Council (BioMS) and Lund University.
What we offer
Lund University is a public authority, which means that you will have special benefits, generous annual leave and an advantageous occupational pension. We also have a flexitime agreement that creates good conditions for work/life balance. Read more on the University’s website about being a Lund University employee,

Work duties and areas of responsibility
The work will be focused on developing and applying advanced structural mass spectrometry methodologies, especially XL-MS in an integrative structural biology context, often supporting complementary biophysical techniques. You will work in a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary environment embedded within both research groups and partners within our platform (link ISB)
The expectation is that with a minimum of training, you will be able to independently lead the experimental and analytical part of crosslinking mass spectrometry at the unit. The role also includes data analysis and visualization of data for users of the infrastructure, scientific documentation, protocol development, FAIR data management, presentation of results and knowledge transfer within the research group and to collaborators. Some shared administrative duties may be included.
You will be able to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, demonstrating strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. The ability to manage your time, deliver high-quality results to agreed deadlines, and engage constructively with collaborators is essential.
Qualifications
The requirements for the position are:
Candidate should have at least PhD level education in a relevant field for the application e.g. mass spectrometry, proteomics or structural biology, or a very closely related field.
Documented theoretical and practical experience of mass spectrometry or another advanced analysis technology used in structural biology, e.g. CryoEM, NMR or crystallography.
Very good communication skills in spoken and written English. Documented practical experience of laboratory work.
Additional qualifications for the position are:
Documented experience of crosslinking mass spectrometry (XL-MS) would be highly desirable
Experience of project management and communication with external users/customers
Documented ability to communicate scientific results and knowledge to non-specialists and students.
Ability to work efficiently both independently and as a member of a team.
Experience from industry or another research infrastructure.
Particular emphasis will be placed on personal suitability and a documented ability to contribute to the continued success of the unit. The main working language of the project is English.
Further information
The position is a fixed-term, full-time employment for 11 months under the Special Fixed-Term Employment (SÄVA) provisions, starting on 1 January 2027 or according to agreement.
How to apply
You apply for the position via the University’s recruitment system. The application is to include a personal letter describing how you meet the qualification requirements and why you are interested in the position. The application is also to include a CV with a general description of previous research work, a copy of your doctoral degree and any other documents to which you wish to draw attention (copies of degree certificates, grade transcripts, details of referees, letters of recommendation, etc.)
