The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the Maroun Semaan Faculty of Engineering and Architecture at the American University of Beirut invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Cybersecurity. Exceptional candidates at higher ranks might be considered.

The Department seeks outstanding candidates with a strong research record and demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and research. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to:

• Network and systems security
• Cloud, edge, and IoT security
• AI and machine learning for cybersecurity
• Security and privacy of AI systems
• Applied cryptography
• Software and hardware security
• Cyber-physical systems and critical infrastructure security
• Privacy-enhancing technologies
• Digital forensics and incident response
• Emerging areas of cybersecurity

The successful candidate is expected to establish an internationally recognized and externally funded research program, contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching, supervise graduate students and final-year projects, and participate actively in the academic and professional activities of the Department and Faculty. The candidate will also be encouraged to develop interdisciplinary research collaborations within AUB and with external academic and industrial partners.​

Applicants must hold a PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a closely related field by the time of appointment. Evidence of high-quality research and a strong commitment to excellence in teaching is required. Postdoctoral, industrial, or other relevant professional experience is desirable.

Consideration of the received applications will begin as of December 30, 2026. The ideal starting date for the position is September 2027, but willing to consider a later date for the right candidate. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
